Hedgelaying on farms
Join us for a day of hands-on hedgelaying at Riglaw Farm, East Renfrewshire. Expert hedgelayer Torquil Varty will host a full day of practical learning geared towards farmers, land managers and those who will take these skills and use them in the future. Eadha Enterprises - local agents for the Woodland trust MOREhedges scheme - will be there to advise anyone interested in putting in some hedges, and where to find funding support.
What to expect: Demos and supervised practice. Participants will leave with confidence in laying a hedge in a regional style, use of tools, hedge preparation, finishing and aftercare. The course will cover the wider benefits of hedgelaying: biodiversity support, improving habitat connectivity, reduced fencing costs, eligibility for agri-environment support. Lunch is provided.
What to bring: Outdoor gear, gloves, water.
Please email catriona@propagate.org.uk if you have any questions. We will be in contact nearer to the time with course specifics.
