Farmers and producers are invited to join this farm walk at The Wee Dairy, where Rachael, Tom and family run a cow with calf micro dairy producing high quality milk which they sell via local markets.

They run 18 dairy cows, jersey and jersey crosses with calves at foot and milking once a day. They breed their own replacements as well as producing beef x stores and finished cattle. Grass fed, no feed for youngstock nor beef - 400kg concentrate per head per dairy cow.

The farm is on the Dupplin Estate where they have a contract farming agreement. 21.9 hectares grazing platform, 11 hectares silage ground, 7 hectares rough grazing which rises from 50 to 250 metres of undulating land. Rachael and Tom supply livestock, processing equipment, machinery costs, labour and expertise; Dupplin provides land and working capital as well as buildings and investment. They operate a rotational grazing system and have applied to convert to organic - using no inputs, and no machinery. Youngstock are outwintered  with deferred grass and bales, extended grazing of milkers.

This farm walk will be an inspiring insight into how one forward thinking and determined young family have set up their own enterprise from scratch, achieving high animal welfare and ecological outcomes while making a living from local food.

The event is organised by Propagate's RegenFarm Network as part of the Scottish Agroecology Partnership's Upscaling Agroecology programme, and funded by the Scottish Government's Knowledge Transfer Innovation Fund..
