About this Workshop
The science of autism has moved. Has your practice kept up?
Most clinicians working with autistic clients were trained in frameworks built around behaviour — identifying it, modifying it, managing it. But a growing body of neuroscience research now challenges the foundations of many interventions we've considered best practice.
In this full-day intensive with internationally renowned psychologist and author Dr Peter Vermeulen, you'll examine what current research tells us about how the autistic brain actually works — and what that means for the way we assess, formulate, and intervene.
Dr Vermeulen's work on context processing, the predictive brain, and Theory of Own Mind has reshaped how practitioners across Europe, the US, and the UK approach autism support. This is a rare opportunity to hear directly from one of the field's most respected and provocative thinkers.
You'll leave with:
- A clearer understanding of autistic cognition beyond behavioural description
- A critical lens on common intervention approaches and where they fall short
- Practical frameworks to update your practice — immediately applicable across assessment, therapy, and psychoeducation
- Language and tools to help autistic clients better understand themselves
This day is designed for: Psychologists, psychiatrists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, and allied health clinicians who work regularly with autistic children, adolescents, or adults and want their practice to reflect the current evidence base
