POW UK Clean Miles report launch

Thu 18 Jun 2026 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM BST Online, Zoom

Join us for the launch of Clean Miles - Low carbon transport to the outdoors for all a new report exploring how we can travel to the places we love in ways that protect them for the future.

From mountain trails and coast paths to snowy peaks and weekend escapes, travel is often one of the biggest parts of our outdoor adventures. It is also one of the biggest contributors to their environmental impact. Clean Miles asks an important question: how can we make getting outdoors more affordable, more accessible and suitable for outdoor adventures, with space for all the kit we need?

At this online launch event, Dom Winter, Head of Advocacy at POW UK will introduce the report’s key findings and recommendations, share the evidence behind them and explore how insights from the outdoor community have shaped the report itself.

Together with campaigners and organisations working across transport, aviation and behaviour change, we’ll explore:

• Why rethinking travel to the outdoors matters and why it’s becoming increasingly important in climate and transport policy making

• How journeys by trains and coaches, as well as closer-to-home adventures, can unlock new experiences

• Why reducing aviation emissions requires both personal choices and systemic change

• The barriers that stop people changing how they travel from cost and convenience to habits and social norms

• What helps people travel differently from community support and visible alternatives to inspiring stories that make lower-carbon travel feel exciting rather than restrictive

Featuring contributions from the Campaign for Better TransportMountaineering Scotland, Ski Flight Free and more this conversation will connect outdoor adventure with the bigger changes needed to create a fairer, cleaner and more sustainable future for travel.

Join us to explore what cleaner miles could look like and how getting there can become part of the adventure too.
