Province of Durham Craft Visit to UGLE with Dining afterwards at The Connaught Rooms
Wed 11 Sep 2024 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM BST
Freemasons' Hall, 60 Great Queen Street, London, WC2B 5AZ
Description
The Provincial Grand Master has designated the Quarterly Communication of Grand Lodge, which is to be held on Wednesday 11th September 2024, as our 'Provincial Day Out' in London. The meeting will open at noon. We have secured a maximum of 100 tickets for Durham Brethren for entry to the Grand Temple AND for dining afterwards at the magnificent Connaught Rooms - the dining fee should be no more that £60 which includes a 3 course meal, coffee and wine at the table. The Grand Master or Pro Grand Master, Deputy and Assistants plus Senior UGLE Officers usually attend this dining experience where the usual toasts and some special toasts are observed.
All Craft Masons from MMs 'upwards' can attend Grand Lodge (unfortunately no EAs or FCs are able to attend Grand Lodge).
All Brethren attending must wear the UGLE Craft Tie, or a plain Black Tie, and the appropriate aprons and Collars. Masters and current Wardens at the time are reminded they must wear their appropriate collar. Qualified Brethren should wear the Royal Arch Breast Jewel. White Gloves are worn in Grand Lodge. Provincial or Lodge ties and Festival Jewels may NOT be worn for entry into Grand Lodge.
If you wish to attend what is always a very special day, you are advised to 'express interest' and make this known to us via Ticket Tailor no later than 1st July 2024, after which we will issue details of how to book a meal and make menu choices etc.
EARLY application via the 'expression of interest' is strongly advised - once your application is received you are guaranteed a ticket and dining and are then able to book your travel which may be cheaper earlier than later.
The deadline for receipt of booking and Meal reservations by London is Thursday 1 August 2024.
With this early notification, you will then be able to plan your travel to and from London hopefully taking advantage of the cheaper tickets released around then. Tickets for travel are not coordinated by Province but we can inform all of the names of members who are attending so they can maybe coordinate bookings and travel arrangements between themselves.
Brethren may wish to remain in London AFTER the meal concludes at the Connaught Rooms around 4pm to enjoy free time with Brethren and Friends. A later return train ticket may be cheaper!
Brethren are required to be seated in the Grand Temple by 11:30 a.m., unless directed otherwise nearer the time.
It is advisable to arrive in London no later than 10:30 a.m. For guidance, a Tube ride from Kings Cross to Covent Garden takes about 20 minutes.
We hope once again to have a great day and experience what is Grand Lodge.
