Publishing Futures: Innovation, Legacy & Opportunity

Honouring our past, navigating the present, and shaping what’s next.

Join us at the stunning Hyatt Centric, The Liberties, Dublin 8, on Friday, 14th November 2025, for a day of insight, discussion, and inspiration. This year’s programme features leading voices and fresh perspectives on the issues influencing publishing today.

We begin with “The Future of Irish Publishing in a Multi-Platform World: Insights from Enders Analysis”, featuring Abi Watson, followed by “The Changing Legal Landscape,” where Samantha Holman provides an update on the rapidly evolving EU legislation, emphasising the importance for publishers to stay informed. This session will highlight key developments impacting the industry and break down essential copyright updates. Our panel of leading voices from across Ireland’s publishing ecosystem will discuss "Publishing in Ireland: Distribution Challenges and Opportunities".

Graham Bell then discusses how ONIX and Thema connect publishers and readers globally, while Lisa Farato prepares us for the realities of EUDR: What It Means for Publishers. A panel of influential publishers, chaired by Breda Brown, will explore “Reviving the Backlist: Proven Titles, New Growth, sharing practical strategies for unlocking catalogue value.

George Walkley will examine “How AI is Reshaping Publishing – and what it means for your business”. Adrienne Wolfenden and Sara Mulryan from NielsenIQ BookData will reveal “What the Numbers Say: Insights for Irish Publishers”.

Publishing in Ireland: Distribution Challenges and Opportunities. This dynamic panel brings together key voices from across Ireland’s publishing supply chain to explore the realities of getting books into readers’ hands. From logistical hurdles to commercial pressures and creative collaboration, the session will examine the distribution challenges Irish publishers face today — and spotlight strategies for building stronger, more sustainable networks. Panelists: ▪️ Ruth Hegarty – Royal Irish Academy (Chair) ▪️ Michael Darcy – New Island Books ▪️ Darragh Deering – Ingram Content Group ▪️ Tomás Kenny – Kennys Bookshop & Art Galleries ▪️ Ali Balaban – Gardners

Alongside the main programme, delegates can visit our Exhibitors’ Area to connect with our wonderful sponsors and participate in one-on-one sessions with expert speakers, who will provide tailored advice and insights to support your publishing enterprise.

Please take a moment to enjoy tea or coffee, join us for a networking lunch, and connect with others at our closing Drinks Reception. Whether you’re an independent press, academic publisher, or emerging publisher, this conference is a great chance to relax, recharge, and get ready for the year ahead.
