Know a child who just loves to draw? Then award-winning author and illustrator Kate Milner has the event for you. Author of It’s A No Money Day and My Name is Not Refugee, Milner will be hosting a short illustration workshop perfect for young ones to get their imagination flowing.
Kate Milner’s books highlight important stories of society’s most vulnerable in accessible ways for children with care, compassion and great skill. Her illustrative style brings magic to the everyday, and has seen her win countless prizes.
Join Kate Milner at The Scottish Books Long Weekend as she focuses on that joy of drawing, and the escape creativity and imagination can offer.

Kate Milner studied Illustration at Central St Martin’s before completing the MA in Children’s Book Illustration at Anglia Ruskin University. Kate was awarded the V&A Student Illustration Award in 2016 and the Klaus Flugge Prize in 2018 for My Name is Not Refugee and is currently shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway Medal 2021 for It’s a No-Money Day. Kate is an active campaigner and advocates for access to sanitary products and toiletries at foodbanks for women in need. Kate lives in Edinburgh.
