Please note - Our dances are scheduled to be here on 3rd Thursdays for the rest of 2025.

7pm - Partner Dance Class w/ Angela Heyun
8pm - Opening circle & First-timer orientation, followed by PULSE Social Dance w/ DJs Eric Spiegel & Kenny Smestad
10:15pm(ish) - Closing circle

ENCOURAGEMENTS
* Participate in the lesson preceding the social dance, as it helps us connect with each other and drop in to a cohesive collective space in which to launch into social exploration & expression for the rest of the evening! You'll learn something new in movement, be invited to connect with many different partners, and start to build familiarity, which fosters trust with each other and yourself. This is how our dance scene continues to root and blossom!

* Dressy attire - whatever that means for you! Let's celebrate!

* Bring dancing shoes, whatever is comfortable for you! The Barn is an unfinished wood floor, so there can be an occasional splinter in a bare foot or tear in a sock - and still, people still choose to do that, sometimes.

CLASS

Synchrony & Suspense

Sometimes, we arrive at a shared feeling… that this moment was ours. We made this moment together. Invitations were offered and received, and we were with each other through every instant. Our presence was precise. Our pauses, potent. What makes these moments possible?

In this class, we’ll play with some of the mechanics and mysteries of togetherness: frame clarity, grounded axis, subtle torsion, attuned invitations, and artful patience. We’ll explore them by dancing with pivots, pauses, and balances. We’ll draw inspiration from Tango, as well as Blues and Zouk.

We’re excited to guide explorations for more easeful awareness, dance vocabulary, and embodied communication! Dance soon.

(All levels class. Socks or pivot-able dance shoes recommended.)

TEACHER

Angela Heyun (Las Vegas) is curious about everything embodiment and improvisation. She creates spaces for moving at the pace of being and feeling, learning in connection, and going into the unknown together. Her key influences are Tango, Zouk, and Contact Improvisation, followed by West Coast Swing, Qi Gong, Contemporary Dance, and Butoh. She primarily teaches Contact Beyond Contact, and is organizing Fusion and Microfusion in Las Vegas.

Amber Rivera - is sick today! (Thanks for self and community care to stay home!)

DJ Spiegel - (Eric Spiegel, he/him) endeavors to gather a diversity of genres, tempo textures, cultures of music and emotional evocations to bring us into connection through dance; reminding us that as human animals, we exist today because our ancestors always danced together, and with all life. Eric is an co-founder of PULSE Partner Dance, as well as Sebastopol Contact Improv (post-pandemic) and Synergy Ecstatic Dance.

Kenny Smestad - Kenny is a long-time Fusion dancer, grooving to a wide mix of music throughout the years.  With a rich collection of classic fusion tracks and some of the latest R&B dance hits, rhythm plays a key role with song selection.  He enjoys providing dancers with tunes that offer creativity and fun to encourage them to move across the floor.  Currently, he's lured by the sounds of Afro R&B, Zouk, and modern takes on spicy latin beats.

We’re honored to be hosted by Green Valley Village, where our dance floor is located in a beautiful converted barn, surrounded by redwoods and that magical West County feel! We also love our partnership with Soft Medicine in downtown Sebastopol where we come together in their beautiful upstairs Dance Temple. We are based out of Sebastopol, CA and aim to connect partner dancers in Sonoma County, CA and beyond.

We are committed to growing, harmonizing, and exchanging ideas in connective movement. We invite you to cultivate your skills in communication, consent, nonverbal cues, and partnered dance movement and will be offering support via lessons before events - our own, and before other dances in the Sonoma County, CA region.
