ENCOURAGEMENTS
* Participate in the lesson preceding the social dance, as it 1) warms up our dancer bodies and minds, 2) connects us with multiple other dancers and as a cohesive, collective whole, and 3) gives us new vocabulary for more creative and attuned dances. This is how our dance scene continues to root and blossom!
* Bring dancing shoes, whatever is comfortable for you! The Barn has a slick, newly-finished wood floor, and most people wear rubber-soled shoes (some socks, some barefoot).

ABOUT OUR CLASS FACILITATOR & DJ:
Shantala Davis is a Professional in Partner Dance, Feminine Empowerment and Kinetic Intimacy through the language of somatic and dance. She has been pro-active participant of various social dance communities (including Lindy Hop, West Coast Swing, Zouk, Blues & Fusion) for over 20 years, and has become a spokesperson in building better systems and education around consent culture in our dance spaces. Shantala is the founder of Harvest Fusion, Northern California’s Intimate Partner Dance & Connection Festival, scheduled for October 22–26, 2026.
“My intention is to build safer, sweet containers that invite the realness of our bodies to play, connect and show up freely, bridging teachings of Social Partner Dance, Solo Dance, Consent Culture, Female Empowerment & Dance Wellness. To have an eloquent understanding of dance language and connected conversation, to expand and shift how we show up, express, transform, co-create and move together in dance and in life, on this planet, is a deep passion I have for our dance communities and culture. It is my desire to unapologetically allow my body to be authentically expressed, exquisitely held and witnessed with deep respect, honor, and loving tenderness in its fullness, inspiring the permission of others to have the same."
