Online, Zoom
Description
Disability is part of being human. There are 1.3 billion people representing 17% of the global population living with significant disability. It is estimated that 1 in 200 people could benefit from AAC.
The ability to communicate makes it easier to participate in the world, something which can be challenging for individuals who are non-speaking or minimally verbal. Access to AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) can help children and adults with limited or no speech, creating more inclusive and accessible public spaces for all.
In this webinar with Talk To Me Technologies and Purple Tuesday, you will learn about simple strategies to help disabled customers gain greater independence to communicate their needs, wants, and feelings, as well as build relationships with others. Real-world examples will be shared where businesses are promoting alternative communication by providing access to communication boards and other accessible solutions. We'll explore the benefits of symbol-based communication in community settings, how it can aid in emergencies, provide essential health and safety information, and wayfinding and transport instructions.
Talk To Me Technologies is part of the Smartbox family, creators of Grid AAC software.
