What exactly is this course?
- This is a course in First Aid for Mental Health, providing you with the knowledge to identify suspected mental health conditions and the skills to start a conversation surrounding mental health. You will also learn about the first aid action plan for mental health and how to implement a positive mental health culture in the workplace.
It is fully accredited by the FAA (First Aid Awards) and awarded at Level 2 RQF or Level 5 SCQF - a summary of the content can be seen at the bottom of this page, and this link will take you to a few more details, including the course syllabus.
The qualification is valid for a total of 3 years, and is taken online (using zoom) for a mixture of group teaching and individual assessment *
Who is this course for?
- Anyone who has or wishes to have some influence in organisational delivery of wellbeing and in particular First Aid for Mental Health.
This course is designed to be of particular use to those who wish to be able to respond positively to others who are struggling with poor mental health, and for those who wish to be officially recognised as a First Aider for Mental Health.

How much does the course cost?
- The standard cost fees are £200 per person
- Discounts are available for those working in the education, charity and voluntary sectors - please contact Qawah Coaching for more details and a code **.

The course cost includes all teaching input, admin support, certificate costs and all materials - including a comprehensive booklet.

What is the course content?
By the end of the course, you will know:
- What mental Health is, and how it can be positively and negatively impacted
- How to identify mental health conditions
- How to provide advice and start a helpful conversation
- What stress is, and how it informs our mental health
- How drugs and alcohol impact mental health
- What the First Aid Action Plan for Mental Health is
- How to improve mental health in the workplace
Unless stated otherwise, the training will run from 10am to 3pm (including breaks)
In order to successfully complete the course and gain your qualification you must attend the teaching day and pass your individual assessment.
Please note that booking for paid courses closes at least 36 hours before course commencement - to allow for the necessary admin.

* Assessment takes the form of an individual discussion with the instructor at a mutually agreed date (usually within a few days of the course delivery, but no more than 3 weeks from the date of the first teaching session) - this usually takes between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on course numbers and other factors.
