What exactly is this course?

  • This is an advanced course in the Principles of Safeguarding and Protecting Children, Young People or Vulnerable Adults, providing you with the knowledge to recognise the signs of abuse and neglect and understand what action you can take to prevent occurrences and/or take appropriate action.

It is fully accredited by the FAA (First Aid Awards) and awarded at Level 3 RQF - a summary of the content can be seen at the bottom of this page, and this link will take you to a few more details, including the course syllabus.

Assessment is taken online (using zoom) and is completed individually after the teaching input *

The qualification has no expiration date, but refresher training and keeping up to date with changes to policies, procedures and new legislation is vital.


Who is this course for?

  • Anyone who has contact with children, young people or vulnerable adults in their working environment (including voluntary work).

This course is designed to be of particular use to those who have - or are likely to have - responsibility for formal or informal safeguarding practice, strategy and support in their workplace and/or as part of a community group or initiative.

How much does the course cost?

  • The standard cost fees are £220 per person
  • Discounts are available for alumni of Animas Centre for Coaching, and those working in the education, charity and voluntary sectors - please contact Qawah Coaching for more details and a code **.

The course cost includes all teaching input, admin support, certificate costs and all materials - including a comprehensive booklet.

What is the course content?

By the end of the course, you will have received training on the following:

  • Safeguarding legislation and guidance
  • Indicators of abuse or neglect
  • Making judgements
  • Communication
  • Roles and responsibilities
  • Sharing of information
  • Dealing with and reporting allegations and complaints

Unless stated otherwise, teaching days will run from 10am to 4pm (including breaks)

In order to successfully complete the course and gain your qualification you must attend the teaching day and pass your individual assessment.

Please note that booking for paid courses closes 36 hours before course commencement - to allow for the necessary admin.

* Assessment takes the form of an individual discussion with the instructor at a mutually agreed date (usually within a few days of the course delivery, but no more than 3 weeks after the first day of course delivery) - this usually takes between 30 and 45 minutes, depending on course numbers and other factors.
