A Commemoration of Diego de Gardoqui

UPDATE: This event will now take place at the Auditorium of the Instituto Cervantes of New York (211–215 E 49th Street) at 12:15 p.m.  (Due to the federal government shutdown, this event will not take place at Federal Hall.)

To celebrate the 240th anniversary of the laying of the cornerstone of New York’s first Catholic parish, St. Peter’s, Iberdrola and the Queen Sofía Spanish Institute invite you to a conversation about Diego de Gardoqui followed by a musical performance by a quintet from the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía.

This program will celebrate the newly installed plaque commemorating Diego de Gardoqui, Spain’s first ambassador to the U.S., who laid the cornerstone of New York’s first Catholic parish and attended George Washington’s inauguration at Federal Hall.
