Queer Research Forum for PGRs and ECRs
The Queer Research Forum is a new initiative for PhDs and ECRs working on minoritised sexualities and genders, led by KCL doctoral candidate Emma Simonini (they/them) and hosted at Queer@King’s. We’re hoping to create a relaxed, friendly and interdisciplinary space to share work-in-progress, exchange ideas and get to know other researchers working in queer and trans studies across King’s and beyond.
Each session will feature one 20-30 minute presentation, followed by a Q&A and informal discussion (hopefully with some snacks!). This is intended to be a low-pressure space to try out a conference paper, get feedback on a chapter or article you’re working on, or simply talk through an idea that’s still taking shape. You don’t need to have a polished or finished piece of work to present, and you’re very welcome to come along just to listen, chat and meet other early career researchers. Each session will end with a trip to a nearby pub for all those who feel inclined.
If you’d like to present, or have an idea you’d like to discuss, simply get in touch by emailing emma.simonini@kcl.ac.uk. We’d love for the forum to be an informal space where we can support one another’s work, bounce ideas around, and connect with other researchers working in and around LGBTQ+ topics.
If you are a non-KCL staff or student, please arrive early to sign in with reception and find the room. Map to Bush House South East Wing entry (PDF)
