Join Queer Scouts Seattle for an in-person, masked, indoors zine making skill share at Pipsqueak Gallery. In this hands-on skill share, we will all be making basic 8-page mini zines. Our event leaders, Marlowe and Elan, will be providing collage materials, some art supplies (crayons, sharpies, colored pencils), and a few scissors. We encourage folks to bring their own scissors if they have them, as well as any art supplies they would like to use in their own zine or share with others.

Update: We are also doing a Zine Swap Social on May 23. If you need help making copies of your zine to bring to the swap, please let us know.

Please note: Queer Scouts is a substance-free group. Please do not drink alcohol, smoke, or otherwise partake during this event.

CANCELLATIONS:

If you are unable to come, please cancel your ticket or email lauren@queerscouting.com. You may cancel your own ticket and receive a refund up to one hour before the event. We will keep all transaction fees and any remaining funds you paid will be returned to the original payment method. There is no shame for a last minute cancellation, but we sometimes have waitlists and cancelling tickets allows us to free up spots for others.

ACCESSIBILITY TRANSPARENCY:

Physical:

Pipsqueak Gallery is on street level and has no stairs. Tables and chairs are available in the event space.

Sensory:

We will be inside a heated building but we do plan to prop open the door for ventilation. We have been advised that the heater in the space can be noisy, but we are going to try to heat the space before the event to minimize noise disruptions. There will also be an air purifier running on high during this event.

Immune System Safety:

Queer Scouts understands that the Covid-19 vaccine is not currently accessible to everyone. The Washington State Department of Health has issued a standing order to allow healthcare providers and pharmacists in WA to administer Covid vaccines to anyone age 6mo+. The vaccine is covered by WA Apple Health Medicaid and many other insurance plans. Queer Scouts recognizes that some insurance plans may not cover the vaccine at this time, which has led to unequal access. We are temporarily removing the requirement for vaccination at our in-person events. If you are physically and financially able to be vaccinated, we STRONGLY ENCOURAGE getting an updated dose of the 2025-26 Covid vaccine.

Plan to be masked with an n95/kn95+ or similar respirator type mask at all times; if you need to drink or eat something, please step away from the group. Use of a mask with a drinking valve is totally allowed!

We have 17 tickets for Scouts and three for event leaders Marlowe and Elan, and Leadership member, Lauren, for a total of 20 folks attending this event.

Financial:

This event is FREE for all attendees. It is not required for folks to provide any materials for this event. However, we do encourage folks to bring a pair of scissors if they have one, as well as any art supplies they would like to use in their own zine or share with others. Plenty of materials will be provided if you do not have any of you own. If you'd like to make a donation to Queer Scouts, follow the directions later in the ticket process. Feel free to donate as little or as much as you are able. Donations support us in continuing to make Queer Scouts programming available & accessible to everyqueer.

Transit:

Parking: Free residential street parking is available in the surrounding area.
