In-Person Crafternoon Seattle July 2026
Join Queer Scouts Seattle for an in-person, masked, outdoor craft time/queer stitch & bitch at Volunteer Park. We will be meeting just to the south of the Seattle Asian Art Museum (SAAM). Bring your cross-stitch, sketches, knitting, sewing, or other art/craft to work on while chatting. Want to learn a new craft? Contact us--we might be able to group you with scouts who know that craft! This event will be outdoors and socially distanced.
Please note: Queer Scouts is a substance-free group. Please do not drink alcohol, smoke, or otherwise partake during this event.
CANCELLATIONS:
You may cancel your ticket and receive a refund up to one hour before the event. We will keep all transaction fees and any remaining funds you paid will be returned to the original payment method. There is no shame for a last minute cancellation, but we sometimes have waitlists and cancelling tickets allows us to free up spots for others.
ACCESSIBILITY TRANSPARENCY:
Physical:
There is ADA parking in front of the Seattle Asian Art Museum (SAAM). We will be meeting just to the south of the museum. There is a low curb between the sidewalk and the grass, but there is a gap you can navigate through to get to us. The area is grassy and mostly flat. If you have specific questions, let us know how we can help you!
Sensory:
We will have a canopy and some blankets and camp chairs. If you're able to bring your own picnic blanket or chair, that would be helpful! Remember that this will be July in Seattle so the weather may be very warm and sunny. As wildfire smoke has become a regular occurrence during PNW summers and autumns, we will be monitoring the AQI in the days approaching the event. If the AQI exceeds 150 (red/unhealthy) we will switch to a virtual meeting.
Immune System Safety:
Queer Scouts understands that the Covid-19 vaccine is not currently accessible to everyone. The Washington State Department of Health has issued a standing order to allow healthcare providers and pharmacists in WA to administer Covid vaccines to anyone age 6mo+. The vaccine is covered by WA Apple Health Medicaid and many other insurance plans. Queer Scouts recognizes that some insurance plans may not cover the vaccine at this time, which has led to inequal access. We are temporarily removing the requirement for vaccination at our in-person events. If you are physically and financially able to be vaccinated, we STRONGLY ENCOURAGE getting an updated dose of the 2025-26 Covid vaccine.
Plan to be masked with an n95/kn95+ at all times; if you need to drink or eat something, please step away from the group or use a drinking valve mask. While all members of our group will be masked, please note that there are likely to be other unmasked folks nearby in the park.
We have 16 tickets for Scouts, plus will have our Crafternoon leaders, Marlowe and Lauren, for a total of 18.
Financial:
This event is FREE for all attendees. Attendees provide their own crafting materials. If you'd like to make a donation, follow the directions later in the ticket process. Feel free to donate as little or as much as you are able. Donations support us in continuing to make Queer Scouts programming available & accessible to everyqueer.
Transit:
Parking: Parking at Volunteer Park is free. The closest parking is near the Seattle Asian Art Museum.
Buses: Take Metro bus routes 49 or 10; LINK light rail to the Capitol Hill Station; or the Seattle Streetcar to Broadway/Denny.
Biking: There are bike racks at the park across the parking lot "street" from the museum and in front of the stairs by the big sculpture.
Bathroom: Restrooms nearby are ADA compliant--the park bathrooms are gendered, but you can use the gender-neutral bathroom in the SAAM near the gift shop.
