The Radio Academy has announced details of its Foot in The Door training and networking day, to be held at Leeds University on Wednesday 8th November 2023.
Foot In the Door is a one-day event for people at entry and early career level in audio, to build skills development and open access to people and expertise, through training workshops and a facilitated speed-networking session. The event in Leeds is sponsored by Audible, with support from The Radio Academy’s partners: Arqiva, BBC Sounds, Broadcast Bionics, dts and aim from Xperi, On Air, Markettiers, Radio News Hub and RCS.
Training: A three-hour programme of training workshops and talks with national, regional and local audio industry leaders and practitioners will start at midday, and will cover sessions on programme production, podcasting, social media, brand development, music radio, news and speech audio, imaging, and technology.
Connections: The workshops will be followed by a facilitated speed-networking session, where attendees will meet a cross section of professionals from across the sector, to learn about opportunities and career paths available in different areas of audio. They will gain tips and practical steps to get a foot in the door into the industry.
Social: The event will then open into an informal social event, where Radio Academy Members are invited to join in and make connections over a drink - please register for this by selecting a "Social Event only" ticket. The Social will begin after 17:30 and is run with our Radio Academy Yorkshire Branch.
The Foot in The Door training and networking day will take place at Leeds University from 12-7pm on Wednesday 8th November.
Tickets are available now costing £6 for Radio Academy Members, or £12 for non-members (includes a £5 discount off future membership). Tickets include light refreshments on the day and the first drink in the bar.
There is no cost to join the social event from 17:30 - please select "Social Event only" when registering your place.
Speakers and industry guests will be announced over the coming weeks. The Radio Academy’s previous Training Days have included speakers from the BBC Radio, commercial and independent production audio sector plus UK-wide presenters, content producers and leaders.
