Foot in the Door 2025 - Belfast

The Radio Academy has announced details of the next Foot in The Door training and connections day, to be held in Belfast on Wednesday 19th March 2025 from 12-5:30pm, followed by a social event. Please note that this event is for over-18s only.

Foot In the Door is a one-day event for people at entry and early career level in audio, to build skills development and open access to people and expertise, through training workshops and a facilitated speed-networking session. The event in Belfast is being held with local student station Queen's Radio and is supported by The Radio Academy’s partners: Broadcast Bionics, BBC Sounds and Queen's University Belfast.

The event includes:

Training: A three-hour programme of workshops and talks with national, regional and local audio industry leaders and practitioners will start shortly after midday, and will cover sessions on programme production, podcasting, social media, brand development, music radio, news and speech audio, imaging, and technology. Delegates will be able to choose from a number of sessions taking place over the three hours.

Connections: The workshops will be followed by a facilitated speed-networking session, where attendees will meet a cross section of professionals from across the sector, to learn about opportunities and career paths available in different areas of audio. They will gain tips and practical steps to get a foot in the door into the industry.

Social: The event will then open into an informal social event, where Radio Academy Members are invited to join in and make connections over a drink - please register for this by selecting a "Social Event only - Members" ticket. The Social will begin from 5:30pm and is run in association with our Radio Academy Belfast Branch.  Non members may also attend, by selecting a "Social Event only - Non members" ticket at a cost of £4.

Note that Foot In The Door ticket holders are all invited and do not need to register separately to attend the social event.

The Foot in The Door training and networking day will take place at The Queens University Student's Union from 12-5:30pm on Wednesday 19th March, followed by a social event from 5:30-9pm.

Tickets are available now costing £6 for Radio Academy Members, or £12 for non-members (includes a £5 discount off future membership). Tickets include light refreshments on the day and the first drink in the bar.

There is no cost for members to join the social from 5:30pm - please select "Social Event only" when registering your place. Note that this ticket is for the social only and delegates must purchase a ticket to attend the training workshops or speed-networking session.  For non members to attend the social only, it costs £4 which includes your first drink at the bar.

Speakers and industry guests will be announced over the coming weeks. The Radio Academy’s previous training days have included speakers from the BBC, commercial and independent production audio sector plus local and UK-wide presenters, content producers and leaders.
