June Henry is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist currently based in Lawrence, Kansas. Her music explores themes of mental illness, complex gender identity, and growing up.

What is life without change? How do we persevere through it and come out stronger on the other side? Who stays by us while we undergo said change — and who bows out? In attempt to parse through these questions, Nashville-based Indigo Ansin’s solo project, chrysalis, rises to the occasion.

As their name would suggest, chrysalis exists in a constant state of metamorphosis. Despite the changes thrown their way, their ethos remains firmly rooted in a sense of care; for their art, their community, their identity.

With arrangements firmly grounded in folk revival soundings, chrysalis’ sound is more accurately described as a patchwork amalgamation of genres and sounds, as they stitch together influences from Alanis Morissette, Joni Mitchell, Brandi Carlile and Indigo De Souza. With every song being as raw and emotionally charged as one would expect a freshly written diary entry to be, chrysalis bears their heart to listeners everywhere.

Enveloping listeners in a world of sonic understanding, chrysalis’ discography comes directly inspired by and written through the lens of their lived experiences as a queer person. Traversing through a world that often refutes their very existence, chrysalis has proven to be a project of unfettered defiance and radical love.
