Wirral Cycling Night: Alex Dowsett book launch event, with Michael Hutchinson
Wed 13 Nov 2024 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM GMT
Future Yard, CH41 6AB
Description
We are delighted to welcome Alex Dowsett to Future Yard in Birkenhead, as he launches the paperback of his acclaimed autobiography, Bloody Minded. Alex will be looking back on his 13 years as a pro cyclist in which he won stages of the Giro d'Italia, held the World Hour Record and raced with and against Bradley Wiggins, Chris Froome, Mark Cavendish and Lance Armstrong.
Alex joins us at 7.30pm on Wednesday November 13.
As well as showing us the golden age of British cycling from the inside, Alex will be sharing the challenges he has faced as the only top sportsperson in the world with haemophilia A, a condition in which falls can be fatal and which both blighted his young sporting life, and boosted his determination to succeed.
From his highs to his frustrations at the injustices he faced in the sport, Alex's memoir chronicles a career in which he was driven equally by love and rage. Alex will be in conversation with Michael Hutchinson - himself a 56-times British champion, Cycling Weekly columnist and acclaimed author.
Tickets are £15, £11 concessions or £25 including a copy of the paperback (RRP: £12.99). *All prices include all booking fees.
