Michael Hutchinson launches his latest book, Further, exploring the strange world of extreme endurance cyclists. What makes someone want to ride from San Diego to Atlantic City with no more than a few 15-minute naps along the way? Or cross Europe unsupported, spending a week living on sweets and sleeping in hedges?

The book is a follow-up to Michael's three previous much-loved cycling best-sellers: The Hour (about the history of cycling’s Hour Record and Michael's own part in it); Faster (about the science of speed); and Re:Cyclists (a history of cycling).

A 56-times British time-trial champion and longtime Cycling Weekly columnist, Michael is steeped in cycling culture - but spending two years among the ultra-distance community immersed him in a new world. Are his new compadres inspirational or unhinged - or both? How would Michael fare himself, having to take on a challenge that would burn 14,000 calories in 24-hours? 'Further' shows us inside a unique part of sport, with Michael's trademark mix of laidback wit and crisp observation.
