PLEASE NOTE: William Fotheringham of The Guardian is now unable to introduce this screening due to ill health
We are delighted to bring a rare screening of 'A Sunday in Hell', the classic documentary on Paris-Roubaix, cycling's toughest one-day race to Kinokulture, Oswestry's community cinema.
'A Sunday in Hell' is widely regarded as one of the greatest sport films ever made, a groundbreaking documentary made with more than 20 cameras along the race route, as well as a footage shot from a helicopter - techniques that went on to become standard in high-level sports coverage.
Danish director Jorgen Leth's revolutionary film-making captures the unique atmosphere of the race, as riders led by Eddy Merckx take on the gruelling, cobble-strewn course on a hot, dusty day in 1976.
Our Paris-Roubaix evening comes just after this year's edition of the race, which takes place on Sunday 17 April (Easter Day).
Kinokulture is a lovely, independently-run community cinema. Please be advised the total capacity is only 60. All seats are £12 (£10 concessions) and unallocated EXCEPT we also have FIVE double-sofas in the back row, regarded as the best in the house, which are £28 (for two people). We also have a Sunday in Hell book-and-ticket bundle for £25 (or £40 sofa ticket plus book.)
