Description
We are delighted to welcome Simon Parker as our latest Oxford Cycling Nights guest at the Tap Social, as he launches his first book, Riding Out.
Riding Out is the story of a 3500-mile cycle tour of Britain, undertaken at one of the most unusual times in our history. Prevented from working in his usual job and hit by the death of a close friend, Simon took to his bike. He set out from Shetland in October 2020, six months into the pandemic, with only a sleeping bag and a camping stove. Riding through 55 counties, he met hundreds of other people, each trying to find their own ways to get through the strange times during and between lockdowns.
Simon's previous adventures include a 2016 sailing/cycling trip from China to London in 133 days. He has also paraglided solo through the Andes, hiked up Bali’s highest volcanoes and driven a rickshaw the length of India.
Riding Out is published on April 21. You can find more information about the book here. You can see some highlights of Simon's adventures on video here.
Please join us at the Tap Social to hear Simon's stories from his round-Britain tour and his other adventures. There will be a chance to ask your own questions. The evening will be hosted, as usual, by former Procycling writer Duncan Steer.
Tickets are £12 or £10 concessions. We also have a book-and-ticket offer for £25 (the book's RRP is £16.99)
