🌙🍊 Create Your Own Window Sun Catcher: A Witchy Dried Fruit Garland ⭐ 🍋

Capture sunlight, intention, and old-world kitchen witch magic in this cozy, creative craft night. In this hands-on workshop, we’ll transform dried citrus, herbs, and botanicals into glowing sun catchers designed to invite warmth, abundance, and joy into your space.

Dried fruit sun catchers are rooted in folk traditions where households used preserved citrus and botanicals not only for food, but for protection, prosperity, and seasonal light-calling during darker months. These radiant charms were often hung in windows to catch the sun, ward off stagnant energy, and symbolize the return of warmth and growth.

A Brief History of Dried Fruit Sun Catchers 

Long before modern décor, dried citrus and botanicals were commonly used in European folk traditions, kitchen witchcraft, and winter solstice practices. Oranges and lemons — once considered luxury items — symbolized wealth, protection, vitality, and the sun itself.

 During colder, darker months, households would:

• Dry citrus to preserve sunlight and warmth
• Hang slices in windows to invite light back into the home
• You will combine dried fruit with herbs, spices, and charms for protection and abundance
• Use sun-catching decorations as both practical preservation and spiritual symbolism

These natural sun catchers served as early forms of seasonal magic, prosperity charms, and light-calling rituals, especially around Yule, Imbolc, and early spring.

What You’ll Make

Each participant will create one large or two small dried fruit sun catchers, featuring:

• Dried citrus slices (orange, lemon, grapefruit)
• Herbs, flowers, and botanicals
• Beads, charms, and optional crystals
• Hanging string or wire for window display
• Every piece is unique and infused with your personal intention.
