This alcohol free event is a fundraiser organized by Rainbow Bridge, a Circle of Hope with Rainbow Refugee Society, dedicated to bringing a family of seven - a mother and her six children - to safety here in Vancouver. All profits go straight to this cause.
About the family
The two eldest daughters (one of whom identifies as lesbian) took to the streets to protest the Taliban's oppression of women. Forced to flee their country, the are currently living in daily danger of arrest and execution. Every day, they pass through armed checkpoints, and on any day, their neighbours could turn them in for a cash reward. We've raised $60,000 and need $60,000 more to bring them here, house them, and get them on their feet (with help from the federal government).
