FAQ

What is Ramadan?

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, observed by fasting from dawn till sunset, prayer, reflection, and charity, ending with a celebration called 'Eid al-Fitr'.

What is Iftar?

Iftar is the evening meal with which Muslims end their daily Ramadan fast at sunset. It's a significant part of the Ramadan observance, often shared with family and community.

Ramadan Tent Project’s mission is to turn strangers into friends, and that is why our events are open to people of all faith backgrounds and none.

Since 2013, Open Iftar has connected over one-million people across the country at some of Britain’s most iconic cultural spaces, from the Royal Albert Hall, Wembley Stadium, and Trafalgar Square, to our regional events at Baltic Museum, Bradford’s Centenary Square, Coventry Cathedral and many more!

Open Iftar bridges communities; it is a space in which our commonalities are highlighted, our differences celebrated and human connection is forged.

What can I expect?

Engaging speakers, bridge-building, food, community cohesion, spiritual reflection, prayers, and great conversations.
