Following last year's Festival of Sound screening of 'Delia Derbyshire : The Myths and the Legendary Tapes' , this year we're thrilled to present 'Sisters With Transistors' which continues the story of pioneering women in the area of music and sound production. This will take place at Ramsgate's Community Cinema's new location behind Hold Studios on Albert Street.
SISTERS WITH TRANSISTORS is the remarkable untold story of electronic music’s female pioneers, composers who embraced machines and their liberating technologies to utterly transform how we produce and listen to music today.
The film maps a new history of electronic music through the visionary women whose radical experimentations with machines redefined the boundaries of music, including Clara Rockmore, Daphne Oram, Bebe Barron, Pauline Oliveros, Delia Derbyshire, Maryanne Amacher, Eliane Radigue, Suzanne Ciani, and Laurie Spiegel. Narrated by Laurie Anderson.
With big thanks to Jan Dunn and all at Ramsgate Community Cinema for making this screening possible.
This is free to attend but please RSVP!
