Teenage Kicks at Eastcliff Bandstand
Free Entry
Ramsgate Festival of Sound has partnered with Behind The Bass, launching Teenage Kicks - a (not-so-new) stage programmed, produced and delivered by young people from across Thanet.
Building on the success of Behind The Bass’ pilot project at Soul of Margate in 2025, Teenage Kicks and Behind The Bass gives local young people the opportunity to gain real-world experience in live events while showcasing the area’s most exciting emerging artists. The free-to-access stage will champion performers aged 14 - 18 from across Thanet, with every aspect of the programme curated by participants from the Behind The Bass: Emerging Festival Producers programme.
Teenage Kicks marks the next chapter in Behind The Bass’ long-term ambition to embed young producers within festivals, venues and cultural organisations across Thanet, creating sustainable pathways into the creative industries while celebrating the grassroots talent already thriving across the district.

About Behind the Bass
In the lead-up to the festival, Behind The Bass will deliver its Emerging Festival Producers programme at Arts In Ramsgate & Ramsgate Music Hall, giving a cohort of 4 young people aged 18 - 25 the opportunity to learn directly from industry professionals.
Through a series of practical workshops and mentoring sessions, participants will gain experience in areas including:
• Festival production
• Programming and curation
• Artist liaison
• Stage management
• Accessibility
• Health and safety
Rather than ending in the classroom, the programme culminates with paid roles at Ramsgate Festival of Sound, where participants will deliver the Teenage Kicks stage alongside experienced professionals.
The aim is simple: give young people genuine industry experience, paid opportunities and the confidence to build careers in live events.
“There’s no shortage of talent in Thanet,” say the organisers. “What young people often lack is access. Behind The Bass exists to change that. By opening doors into the live events industry, we’re creating opportunities for young people to gain experience, build professional networks and discover where their talents can take them. We’re not just producing a stage. We’re investing in the people who’ll shape the future of our creative community.”
