Conversations for Conversation: Loggerhead Shrike - On the Brink of Disappearance in Ontario
Wed Jun 26, 2024 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM

Description
Join us for the last Conversation for Conservation of 2024 with Wildlife Preservation Canada to learn about their Eastern Loggerhead Shrike Program.
The Eastern Loggerhead Shrike is a migratory subspecies that breeds only in Ontario and is on the brink of disappearance. With less than 100 individuals counted annually in recent years, a hands-on approach is necessary to prevent the extirpation of this unique predatory songbird. Since 2003, Wildlife Preservation Canada has lead a multi-faceted approach to the conservation of the loggerhead shrike - monitoring and protecting the wild population, conducting habitat restoration, and releasing captive-bred shrikes into the wild.
Find out what is involved in the program, its success stories and what you can do to help!
