Earth Day Shoreline Clean Up Event

Come join us at rare as part of celebrating Earth Day for our annual Shoreline Clean Up Event! We will be collecting litter along the shoreline of the Grand River to help protect our local ecosystems, drinking water, and native plants and wildlife as well as making our local community a more beautiful place for all!

We will provide all necessary equipment, such as litter bags, garbage pickers and gloves, so come on out and help make a difference in your community! Take this opportunity to show how much you care for our local environment, continue building connections with the land and get a chance to connect with other members of the community!

Recommended Clothing:

• Sturdy, closed-toed shoes and socks
• Layers of loose, comfortable clothing that can get dirty
• Long-sleeved shirt (that can be tucked)
• A hat is recommended

Remember to bring:

• A reusable water bottle
• Snacks and/or packed lunch
• Sunscreen, insect repellent
• Raincoat & rain boots (if in forecast)

We will bring:

• Work gloves
• Litter bags
• Garbage pickers
• First Aid

Washrooms

• Since we will be picking up litter in remote areas of the property, washroom facilities will only be available at the start and end of the event at Lamb’s Inn

Safety Considerations:

• In some areas of the property there are hazardous plant species like Poison Ivy and Giant Hogweed. On the event day you will be given tips on how to identify these plant species and how to best protect yourself.
• Clean will take place along the Grand River shoreline, so be mindful to keep your distance from the water’s edge when possible. As a safety precaution, if there are heavy rains and/or flood warnings during the day the event is scheduled, the event will be cancelled to ensure to safety of volunteers.
