Adventures in Biotic Resistance Field Day
Join rare and Nature Guelph for a day out in the field to learn about and participate in the restoration work being conducted on our protected conservation lands along the Eramosa River.
Participants will park and meet at the Eden Mills Presbyterian Church parking lot for introductions, sign-in, an overview of the itinerary, and a safety talk. They will be guided on a 500 m interpretive walk to the work site, where they will participate in Buckthorn cutting, swale building, and shrub planting for 1-1.5 hrs. If time allows, participants can join a 600 m walk to the landing by the Eramosa River for snacks, conservation, and exploration.
Volunteers should dress for field conditions, including weather, sun, ticks and other biting insects, poison ivy, etc. - long pants tucked into long socks, long-sleeved shirt tucked into pants, and bug spray or treated clothing along with sturdy shoes. Prepare to get dirty!
If a cancellation is required due to weather an email will be sent out to attendees.
