Looking Beyond the Diagnosis
This is a training day focussed on coaching Neurodivergent participants and is delivered by Hayley Brackley who founded Great Minds Don't in 2019 to encourage an inclusive culture in all areas of life. Hayley has delivered training to RDA coaches and volunteers both in person and with her webinars.
Every rider learns, communicates and experiences the world differently. When a rider behaves or reacts in an unexpected way it can be difficult to know what is really happening and what might help.
This interactive course explores how to look beyond diagnoses and behaviours to better understand what a rider may be experiencing. Using real RDA scenarios and practical activities, participants will explore different ways of interpreting behaviour, consider alternative explanations and identify simple adjustments that can improve a rider's experience.
By the end of the course attendees will:
- recognise that the same behaviour can have many different underlying causes
- feel more confident interpreting behaviour, whether or not a rider has a diagnosis
- explore practical ways to adapt coaching and support
- leave with a simple framework they can use in every RDA session.
Please arrive at 9:30 to register for a prompt 10:00 start. Ticket price £20.00.
