Relational Theology Day 2024 - A Better Story

Sat 16 Mar 2024 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM GMT New River Baptist Church, N1 2TL

We all know the Gospel is good news but how do we tell a better story in communicating it?

Relational Theology is an exploration of the rich orthodoxy that exists between the polar extremes of Legalism and Liberalism, telling a better story than that which the church has often resorted to.

As Tom Wright has pointed out, “the story of Scripture” all too often has been reduced to:

  1. God made the world;
  2. humans sinned;
  3. God sent Jesus;
  4. that’s OK then.” [1]

Accordingly, our “popular version” of John 3:16 has ended up sounding more like: “God so hated the world, that he killed his only son”. [2]

We so desperately need a better story! We need a story that is faithful to the biblical narrative and established Christian testimony – one that puts love back at the heart of the story and is truly good news for the whole earth – for Jew, Greek, slave, free, male and female (Galatians 3:28). We need a stronger gospel fluency that can land the good news into this cultural moment!

Join us on 16th March for a series of talks and workshops along with heartfelt worship and prayer, as we explore that better story.
