Learn how to transform silver into beautifully handmade jewellery in this 6-week beginner silversmithing course. Using hand-tools and traditional techniques, you’ll create a range of small projects such as textured pendants, rings and earrings while learning core silversmithing skills including sawing, shaping, soldering, forming, texturing and finishing silver.
As your confidence grows, you’ll move on to design and make your own final piece with step-by-step guidance throughout. This course is perfect for complete beginners and this hands-on class offers an introduction to the creative possibilities of working with silver in a supportive and relaxed environment.
What to Expect
Week 1: Create a textured silver pendant. Learn sawing, shaping and finishing techniques.
Week 2: Make formed silver earrings. Learn hammer texturing, doming and shaping methods.
Week 3: Create either silver stacking rings or a simple appliqued pendant. Learn soldering fundamentals.
Week 4: Combine techniques to make a more detailed jewellery piece. Begin designing your final project.
Week 5: Start building your own final silver jewellery piece with guided support and technical help.
Week 6: Complete your final project, polish and finish your piece ready to wear or gift.
What's Included?
All materials needed for weeks 1-4 are provided. As the materials needed for your final project in weeks 5-6 will depend on your design, you will need to source these. You will be guided on how and where to purchase the correct materials.
All tools needed for the sessions will be provided, as will copper for practice.
Session Dates:
This block of sessions will run every Tuesday from 15th September for 6 weeks.
Specifically, the 15th 22nd & 29th September and the 6th, 13th & 20th October 2026.
All sessions will be 6.30pm - 8.30pm.
