Welcome to our first Poet to Poet Workshop with JLM Morton!

Every event in our dynamic By Poets, For Poets programme has been curated in direct response to the needs of women poets in the UK and we're so excited to bring a you new series of workshops. Our Poet to Poet workshops are facilitated by leading poets from within the Women Poets' Network, equipping women poets with the tools they need to take their poetry to the next level. The Women Poets' Network is run by the Rebecca Swift Foundation.

About the workshop
Summer is a season rich with possibility. It is a time of abundant growth and harvest, the peak of nature's bounty. Fields are full, the warm woodland floor darkens with the leaf cover in the canopy above, fruits and vegetables are ripening. The sun itself – and the solstice - is a powerful symbol of vitality and sustenance. Summer is a time for change of routine, a time of freedom and adventure. But it is also a time of powerful heat and storms, day outbalancing night, intensity and volatility, as well as uncertain weather in our changing climate. Together, we’ll write into these themes, sparking new writing and ideas for future development.

About the workshop facilitator
JLM Morton's debut poetry collection is Red Handed (Broken Sleep Books, 2024), a Poetry Society Book of the year. Her new pamphlet Forest tells the tale of the black pine, first tree to arrive in a woodland (Yew Tree Press, 2025). Juliette is a celebrant, community arts producer and writer from the West of England, where she lives with her family. Highly commended by the Forward Prizes, winner of the Laurie Lee, Geoffrey Dearmer and Poetry Archive Worldview prizes, her work has been published in Poetry Review, Rialto, The London Magazine, Magma and elsewhere.
