Special guests:

Charlie Walker | Award-winning British Explorer, Author and Keynote Speaker

He specialises in long distance, human-powered expeditions and has travelled more than 60,000 miles (100,000 km) by foot, horse, bicycle, ski, kayak and dugout canoe.

In 2022, Charlie spent two months trekking along the surface of frozen rivers and over Arctic sea ice in northeast Russia in order to visit remote groups of indigenous Siberians. The journey involved camping and surviving in temperatures as low as -50ºC and four weeks in prison on spurious charges of photographing sensitive military sites.

Graham Keene | The oldest Briton to summit Mt Everest (aged 68 in 2022)

Graham Keene was born in 1954, ten months after Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay first stood on top of Mount Everest. He grew up in a country that was still proud of that climb. Then, like most people, he got on with life. He built a global events business in the 1980s and ran it for almost three decades.

The mountains came later. In 1998, he climbed Kilimanjaro (5,895m), the highest peak in Africa, with his sons Ben and Daniel. In 2003, he climbed Aconcagua (6,959m), the highest peak in South America.

In 2022, he climbed Everest (8,849m), the highest peak in the world. He got to the summit at 6:50am on 13 May, with his guide and three Sherpas. He was 68 years old.

More about Eva Zu Beck's The Wilder Way

Eva zu Beck walked away from a high-flying career and a picture-perfect life to travel solo through some of the most remote places, from a lone horse trek in Mongolia to a desert island in Yemen. Along the way, she built an online community and confronted the tension between a life of freedom and the need for home. An inspiring memoir about dismantling someone else's dream and finding the courage to build your own.

Why we chose it: "In a world that seems intent on locking us in gilded cages and behind screens, I want my book to stand as an ode to freedom, a call to blaze your very own trail and a blueprint for an adventurous life."
