The Office of Violence Prevention (OVP) works to reduce homicides and gun violence. Within the broad ecosystem of community violence prevention and intervention, OVP serves as a backbone organization fostering collaboration among community members, organizations, government entities, and other partners, guiding a public health approach to community violence reduction.

ReCAST Mecklenburg (Resiliency in Communities After Stress and Trauma) is a 4-year grant awarded to Mecklenburg County Public Health by the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to facilitate community-based approaches that improve trauma-informed care and resilience for systems, organizations and communities in the priority health area.
