About Mental Health First Aid
Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among adults through its ALGEE Action Plan:
- Assess for risk of suicide or harm
- Listen nonjudgementally
- Give reassurance and information
- Encourage appropriate professional help
- Encourage self-help and other support strategies
The course introduces common signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use challenges, how to interact with a person in crisis, how to connect them with help, and expanded content on trauma, substance use, and self-care.
Important Notes:
- This is a BLENDED course, which means you must complete 2 hours of pre-work before you can attend the in-person portion of the training. Deadline to complete the pre-work is Thursday, January 8. Instructions on how to complete the pre-work will be provided after registration is complete.
- You must complete all pre-work, post-work, and attend the full in-person portion of the training to become certified.
- There is a 30-person maximum allowed in the course. When the limit is reached, you will have the option to join the waitlist. You will be notified from the waitlist if additional spots become available.
REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS THURSDAY, DECEMBER 18.
