Dusk and Bat walk at Countess of Chester Country Park
The City Nature Challenge is a global wildlife recording event which unites people in over 500 City Regions all over the world for 4 days of nature observation. Join us and Friends of Countess of Chester Country Park for an evening stroll searching for and recording wildlife to help boost our Chester Region total. As it's getting dark, we'll focus our attention on the plants and animals that call the park home then once the sun sets we'll be using bat detectors to listen in on the echolocation calls made by the park's resident bats. The walk will be guided by the RECORD Team, the Friends of Countess of Chester Country Park group and local bat expert Tony Parker.
We'll be using the iNaturalist app to record any wildlife spotted so that our observations count towards the Chester Region City Nature Challenge total - it's easy to use and you don't have to be an expert to join in.
Accessibility: We will be taking a slow stroll through Countess of Chester Country Park and sticking to marked paths. The meeting point is a 5-minute walk from the carpark. If you have any mobility needs or other additional needs please do not hesitate to get in touch with us ahead of the event to discuss (email info@record-lrc.co.uk).
This walk is aimed at adults and older children, however anyone is welcome to attend (under 18s need to be accompanied and supervised by an adult). The event is free to attend, however please make sure you book tickets for everyone attending through Ticket Tailor as there are limited numbers. More information on the exact meeting point and what to bring along will be emailed to you when you book - please check your spam emails if this doesn't arrive.
The session is hosted by RECORD and the Friends of Countess of Chester Country Park supported by TCV and Chester Zoo. Please email any questions to info@record-lrc.co.uk.
