40 Years on the Wing: The Cheshire Bat Group Story

For our July Wildlife Exchange Session we're joined by guest speaker Helen Bradshaw for a fascinating journey through the world of bats and the remarkable story of the Cheshire Bat Group. 

Cheshire bat group now is now celebrating 40 years of local bat conservation, research and community engagement. We'll explore how the group’s work has evolved during this time, alongside advances in technology—from traditional field surveys to the growing role of digital tools and AI in bat conservation.

The talk will delve into the often-surprising relationship between people and bats, particularly the challenges and opportunities that arise when bats share our homes and neighbourhoods. Helen will highlight the key pressures facing bat populations today and most importantly the practical actions that everyone can take to help protect them; including where to go to find out more.

Our Wildlife Exchange Sessions are relaxed occasions, with time for asking questions and chatting with others after the talk. Free drinks and biscuits will be provided! The event is organised by RECORD and kindly hosted by Chester Zoo as part of the Networks for Nature project.

Please note that the event is aimed at adults, however older children are welcome if accompanied by an adult.
