About the workshop

Something happens. Someone disappoints us, things don't go the way we hoped, or we find ourselves caught in a reaction we can't quite let go of.

The Emotional Sobriety Inventory gives us a way to slow that down and look at what may be happening underneath it.

In this three-hour workshop, Dr. Allen Berger will guide participants through the inventory. We'll look at the expectations and emotional dependencies that may be shaping our reactions, and begin to ask what it would mean to hold on to ourselves differently.

Allen's teaching will be paired with guided practice using the inventory, along with time for reflection, questions, and discussion.

The aim is not to stop having reactions. It's to understand what they may be showing us, and to move toward greater emotional autonomy.

๐Ÿ“„ The Emotional Sobriety Inventory
You're welcome to download it here and look it over before our workshop. If you wish, bring a situation you'd like to ask Allen about. There's no preparation expected either way.

He is the author of the 12 series, including 12 Stupid Things That Mess Up Recovery, 12 Smart Things to Do When the Booze and Drugs Are Gone, and 12 Essential Insights for Emotional Sobriety, and he founded the Institute for Optimal Recovery and Emotional Sobriety.
