About this gathering
Most of us in recovery have heard the word "nervous system" more times than we can count. But knowing about it and actually working with it are two different things. Elaine Miller-Karas has spent decades figuring out the second part.
In this 90-minute conversation, Elaine joins host Joe Saavedra to talk about the Trauma Resiliency Model and the Community Resiliency Model, two approaches she helped develop that have now reached over 75 countries. At the center of both is a simple but profound idea: that the body holds the key to healing, and that those skills are learnable by anyone, not just clinicians.
We'll explore what it means to find your "resilient zone," what happens in the body when trauma knocks you out of it, and why peer-to-peer transmission of these tools might be one of the most powerful things the recovery community has going for it.
This gathering is offered on a donation basis, with a suggested contribution of $3. If that isn't possible for you, you're still very welcome to join.
If you can contribute, please do. Every contribution helps us continue offering these gatherings without a fee.

Recovery Reimagined workshops and community gatherings are educational and recovery-supportive spaces. They are designed to complement, rather than replace, professional mental health care, therapy, treatment or an individual's existing recovery program. Personal reflection and questions are welcome, but participation does not create a therapeutic or clinical relationship with Recovery Reimagined or a guest presenter.
