Join Red Pepper Media to debate and celebrate their new annual print edition Striking Back alongside the fantastic new book The Future in our Past: The General Strike, 1926/2026 (Verso) with its authors Matthew Lee and Callum Cant.

The book offers ‘a fresh, accessible history of the 1926 General Strike on its centenary – telling a story of working-class community then and now’. We'll hear from Matthew and Callum about the events leading up to and during the 1926 General Strike, discuss the challenges and rewards of historical research, and debate the legacy of the Strike for workers and communities in 2026.

Red Pepper editors will join the conversation, drawing on articles featured in the new issue, and we welcome questions and insights from the audience.

Register for this FREE event and join us to celebrate May Day, together!

Both the book and magazine will be on sale at the event – or purchase in advance when registering at a discounted rate!

NOTE: The venue IS confirmed, even though the maps information suggests it is closed!
