Common Ground Series: Edible Invasives
Join us for a mix of learning and working on Reflection Park's forest hiking trail. We will learn about invasive yet edible species found at Reflection Park such as wineberry and garlic mustard. Then we’ll get to work pruning back vegetation that is overgrowing the trail and removing invasive species. We’ll also enjoy a break at the memorial picnic table by the stream with snacks and any wineberries that we’ve foraged.
Please wear long sleeves, long pants, and sturdy shoes. Apply insect repellent and sunscreen as needed, and bring a refillable water bottle. If you have a favorite pair of gloves, pruners, or shears, please bring them, but we'll have some to lend as well.
Reflection Park is registered with the Montgomery County Volunteer Center, allowing us to approve Student Service Learning (SSL) hours. Encourage your teens to take part in this opportunity to learn and serve! Students under 18 are welcome with a parent or guardian.
