The government committed in the Local Power Plan to consult on mandating that clean power developments should offer communities the opportunity to take a share in ownership. DESNZ is now developing detailed proposals as to how shared ownership could work in practice. Great British Energy (GBE) is also exploring ways to simplify delivery through standardised templates and potentially playing a 'stewardship' role to make it easier for developers and communities to work together.

We are now at a key moment to shape a model of collaboration that is workable for developers and meaningful for communities. Drawing on insights from Regen’s Sharing Power paper this event will bring together policy makers, developers, community energy organisations and investors to explore the key challenges, identify practical solutions and help shape the next generation of shared ownership policy and practice.
