Description
Seven Songs and a Serenade: favourites by Mozart and Schubert, with Orchestra for the Earth
Join us for a musical box of treats, interweaving Mozart’s boisterous ‘Posthorn’ Serenade with seven of Schubert’s greatest songs. Two star soloists join Orchestra for the Earth, who enchanted a packed audience at last year’s festival.
Mozart’s dazzlingly diverse serenade, with its imaginative solos for piccolo and posthorn, is a delicious smorgasbord: boisterous, sorrowful, and everything in between. Schubert’s songs are equally wide-ranging, rich in emotion and imagination and often touching on the idea of song itself, from his own ‘Serenade’ (‘Ständchen’) to the Shepherd yodelling down to his beloved from a mountaintop in ‘The Shepherd on the Rock.’ It promises to be an unforgettable evening in the park!
