Colchester Airborne Soldier Statue Unveiling
The Colchester Airborne Soldier Statue will be unveiled to mark the 25th Anniversary of 16 Air Assault Brigade (16 AABCT) being based in Colchester Garrison City. Please register for tickets for this event, one ticket per person including all children. Please be aware due to security and safety for all, dogs will not be allowed, except guide dogs.
Brief outline and details of the day is below, timings may change slightly:
Timings:
- 09:00 Veteran / PRA RV at the Garrison Cricket Pitch
- 10:00 VIPs to arrive at statue location under hosting units
- 10:15 Veterans / PRA on parade
- 10:30 Ceremonial parade and service
- 12:00 Airborne Heritage Fete at the Garrison Cricket Pitch
- 14:00 Red Devils Freefall Display Team
- 18:00 Endex
Co-ordinating details:
- Parking on Abbey Field
- (approach from the South only, via Circular Road East Lower - CO2 7SZ)
- Cricket pitch close / adjacent to statue location, walk from car park
- Coffee / tea at the Veteran / PRA RV
- Food at the Fete post unveiling event at personal cost
- Dress – blazer, beret, medals for parading veterans / PRA
- No entry fee, please bring cash for stalls / stands
- Standards and behaviour – community event, families, children and veterans
