DZOGCHEN TEACHINGS
We are delighted and honoured that Khenpo will be returning to give Dzogchen teachings in London this May.
Drubdra Khenpo Tsultrim Tenzin (Sgrub grwa Mkhan po Tshul khrims bstan 'dzin /སྒྲུབ་གྲྭ་མཁན་པོ་ཚུལ་ཁྲིམས་བསྟན་འཛིན།) is the direct disciple of Yongdzin Lopӧn Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche. He received all the instructions of Zhang Zhung Nyengyu from Yongdzin Rinpoche.
In this retreat, Drubdra Khenpo will give teaching on the first division of Zhang Zhung Nyengyu, The General Presentation of the Outer Views, Chyi Tawa Chyichӧ (Spyi lta ba spyi gcod / སྤྱི་ལྟ་བ་སྤྱི་གཅོད།) which is focused on the aspect of the View.
The text which Khenpo will be teaching is the sixth text in this section and is called Applying the Practice of the Meditative Equipoise, Nyamzhag Gonpai Laglen (rDzogs pa chen po zhang zhung snyan rgyud las lta ba spyi gcod kyi mnyam bzhag sgom pa’i lag len / རྫོགས་པ་ཆེན་པོ་ཞང་ཞུང་སྙན་རྒྱུད་ལས་ལྟ་བ་སྤྱི་གཅོད་ཀྱི་མཉམ་བཞག་སྒོམ་པའི་ལག་ལེན།) which contains detailed instructions on how to correctly practise Dzogchen contemplation.
Additionally, Khenpo will teach and give lung (rlung / རླུང་།, authorisation to study and practise) for an oral tradition of Phowa (‘pho ba / འཕོ་བ།) with Tapihritsa, transmitted by Yongdzin Rinpoche in 1997.

MORE INFORMATION ON ZHANG ZHUNG NYENGYU
Zhang Zhung Nyengyu (Zhang zhung snyan rgyud / ཞང་ཞུང་སྙན་རྒྱུད།) is the most ancient among all Bӧnpo and Buddhist Dzogchen cycles and has been transmitted through an uninterrupted transmission lineage from Kuntu Zangpo (Kun tu bzang po / ཀུན་ཏུ་བཟང་པོ།) up until now. Unlike many teachings, it has never been concealed as terma (gter ma / གཏེར་མ།). Originally this cycle was transmitted only through Single Lineage (gcig brgyud / གཅིག་བརྒྱུད།) from one master to only one disciple, whispered through a bamboo pipe right into the ear. In the 8 th century AD, during the second persecution of Yungdrung Bӧn, Tapihritsa (Ta pi hri tsa / ཏ་པི་ཧྲི་ཙ།) gave his disciple, Nangzher Lӧdpo (sNang bzher lod po / སྣང་བཞེར་ལོད་པོ།), permission to write down the teachings of this cycle and transmit it more widely but only to qualified students.
Nevertheless, the Single Lineage transmission method through which some unwritten instructions are transmitted from one Lineage Holder to another (brgyud pa’i bla ma /་བརྒྱུད་པའི་བླ་མ།) is still used today. The current Lineage Holder of Zhang Zhung Nyengyu is Yongdzin Lopӧn Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche (Yongs ‘dzin Slob dpon Bstan ‘dzin rnam dag Rin po che / ཡོངས་འཛིན་སློབ་དཔོན་བསྟན་འཛིན་རྣམ་དག་རིན་པོ་ཆེ།). In the 10 th century AD, the great master Pӧnchen Tsenpo (Dpon chen btsan po / དཔོན་ཆེན་བཙན་པོ།) translated Zhang Zhung Nyengyu texts from the language of Zhang Zhung into Tibetan and up to the 20th century these precious teachings were transmitted from one generation to another to a limited number of students.
In the 20th Century, the main Protectress of Yungdrung Bӧn, Machog Sipai Gyalmo (Ma mchog Srid pa’i rgayl mo / མ་མཆོག་སྲིད་པའི་རྒྱལ་མོ།) appeared to the teacher of Yongdzin Lopӧn Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche, Yongdzin Lopӧn Sanggye Tenzin Rinpoche (Yongs ‘dzin Slob dpon Sangs rgyas bstan ‘dzin Rin po che / ཡོངས་འཛིན་སློབ་དཔོན་སངས་རྒྱས་བསྟན་འཛིན་རིན་པོ་ཆེ།), and gave him instruction to teach this cycle more openly to a larger circle of students in order to prevent it from disappearing altogether. That is why Yongdzin Lopӧn Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche began transmitting this cycle also to his Western students in the end of 1980s.
