Relic

Multiple dates and times Seven Stages Black Box, 30307

We are excited to announce our upcoming premiere of Relic, a sculptural and dance work by Sarah Seaborn Freeman, Christian Limon and Mohammad Zaidi. This work will debut on February 6th and 7th, 2026 at the Seven Stages Black Box theater.

1105 Euclid Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30307

Relic investigates grief expression inheritance. What knowledge becomes a relic and what knowledge finds new and current life? To be a relic is to be venerated; to be a relic is to be discarded. Our sculpture and movement embody layered practices of grief and renewal.

About Us

Sarah Seaborn Freeman is an Atlanta based dance and performance artist. Her movement practice explores the grotesque, where absurdity and distortion reveal surprising truths. She likes to make and see work where real effort and failure are on the table. She also loves a prop. Sarah was a founding resident artist of The Work Room, and her work has been presented by / at the Lucky Penny, Art on the Beltline, Bates Dance Festival, the staibdance intensive in Sorrento, Italy, Mammal Gallery, and at Emory's Schwartz Center for Performing Arts. She has performed for choreographers including Blake Beckham, Gregory Catellier, Monica Bill Barnes, Melissa Word, Lori Teague, Gabriella Dorado, amo dance (NYC), Nikki and the Noise (NYC), Boink Dance (NYC), and Chocolate Heads (CA). Other artistic practices that inform Sarah's work with varying but mostly limited degrees of skill include creative writing, sewing, painting, collaging, embroidery, and recently, making shrinky dinks. She is also proud of her day job where she invests for social and environmental outcomes.

Christian Limón Nuñez is a life-long artist, Atlanta resident, and founder of Kuali Studio Gallery. He studied at Georgia Highlands College and SCAD Atlanta before deciding to forge another path outside of academia. In recent years, his artwork has been featured in various film and media outlets: The Valet (Universal Studios, 2022); Discover Atlanta (Dani Cintron, 2023) Telemundo (Atlanta Con Sabor, 2023)  Los Angeles Times (Conchas En Atlanta, 2024). Notable clients and collectors include City of Atlanta, 8 Figure Firm, Old Fourth Ward Business Association, Justice for GA. Kuali Studio Gallery is a creative flex-space and humble powerhouse located in the historic Old Fourth Ward community. Since 2019, the studio has partnered with established arts industry professionals, as well as identified and supported new talent from underrepresented communities as part of its core mission.

Mohammad Zaidi is an Atlanta based dance artist and surgeon whose work brings the worlds of art and medicine into conversation.  His work celebrates the body’s immense capacity to be manipulated, but also explores the limits of this manipulation in performance. Through contemporary movement, he explores how discomfort can be a vehicle toward healing and discovery. He views dance making as a devotional practice requiring meticulousness and precision, while also challenging assumptions of how performance can look and feel.  His work is oftentimes multidisciplinary, in conversation with partnering artists who work in sound, visual arts, text and movement. He sees art and science as intersecting, faith-based disciplines- both seeking to foster hope and a deeper understanding of the bodies in which we occupy. Mohammad studied Dance and Movement Studies at Emory University. He has danced with choreographers in the Atlanta area such as T. Lang, George Staib, Lori Teague and Gregory Catellier. He has created work for Emory University, Spelman College and community based dance festivals.
