Sloane Reflections: Heritage Reimagined

Hello you —

This June, we’re heading to The Sloane Club, a place with just the right amount of history and a very appealing sense of what comes next.

Founded in 1922 as a pioneering sanctuary for women, a place to gather, exchange ideas, and shape what came next, The Sloane Club has always had a quietly independent spirit. Its roots stretch back over 100 years to the early 1920s, when HRH Princess Helena helped establish institutions offering refuge and support for ex-service women of the First World War.

Now, after its most extensive renovation to date, it has stepped into a new chapter: thoughtfully reimagined, rooted in heritage, and guided by the ethos of “One Space, Whole Self.” The result is a collection of beautifully considered spaces that move effortlessly through the day, from wellness suites and private rooms to elegant restaurants, bars, workspaces, and 66 member-only bedrooms and suites.

We’ll be in LILA, the newest jewel in its dining collection, a courtyard space with a retractable glass roof that will be open to the glorious June sky. LILA’s bold Southeast Asian flavours, curated soundtracks, create an atmosphere made for long London evenings. It’s led by Executive Chef George Scott-Toft and Head Chef Day Pholyiam, bringing international fluency to dishes designed to be shared rather than observed.

Expect cocktails, warm light, and that particular Chelsea atmosphere, a mix of members and guests, all bright, curious, and easy to talk to. There’s a feeling here that conversations stretch a little longer than intended, and evenings unfold naturally into something memorable.

Dress for the version of yourself you like best, the one who stays a little later than planned, laughs easily, and says yes to one more drink.

Whether you arrive knowing half the room or no one at all, the intention is simple: good conversation, new connections, and an evening that feels relaxed, generous, and quietly full of possibility.
